Having long been fascinated by the roots of the varieties of dogma, I’m posting a little tidbit on the history of what is now celebrated as either the Christian holiday of Easter, or as another reason to shop, as promoted by savvy retailers.
The origins, as far as can be traced back in history, stem with the Pagan celebration of the spring equinox. This year, the modern-day holiday comes fairly late: 19 days after the actual arrival of spring. I’m supposing this is to give us all ample time to shop for Sunday-best outfits, and color those eggs with sweet pastels that bring to mind the image of…well, nevermind all that.

Mostly, I do love the Easter celebration, whether by Pagans or Christians or by anyone who just loves a good reason to eat chocolate rabbits and creatively paint eggs, and of course, eat until we’re over-filled. In my perspective, any holiday that brings peace, thought, and chocolate is a cause for support!
