The Re-emergence of Pelmanism in Mind Studies

The Secrets of Letting Go, Letting Gestalt

Could there be a secret key that exposes the reasons you are not breaking through your personal barriers? Do you suppose that your mind could be preventing you from realizing whole mental, spiritual, financial, and physical freedom?

Of course, the rhetorical answer is: yes. Even a smidgen of self-awareness tells us that personal blocks have their roots in memories that reside in the mind. And that last sentence means full liberation is possible….

Mind control.

The mind is a muscle that, just as is true of your body’s muscles, needs to be trained and developed, and well-nurtured. It needs to be fed a healthy diet of not only nutrients, but also of stimulating activities. Additionally, substances that kill the cells, including chronic negativity, drugs and alcohol must be kept to a minimum for full brain function and maximum mind control.

In the 19th century, William Joseph Ennever (1869-1947) created memory and self-help institutions, and coined the term, Pelmanism. Eventually, Pelmanism became the basis for today’s Concentration card game. It has also been the at the foundation of many sales and marketing plans. And here today, more than a dozen latter-day self-help gurus are re-igniting the coals of this age-old practice of mind control. The sales pitch says something like how they discovered this long lost secret….

It is true that at its peak, Pelman had over half-a-million followers around the globe; most were in France, America, and India. But with his death, the concept imploded and not much has been done with it since then…well, that is, until the re-emergence of the so-called long lost secret.

As far as Pelman’s mind control theories go, it is important to exercise the mind. It is also, according to gestalt theory, important to go back to re-visit memories that shackle us, and to then release those old worn-out messages, and replace them with a more productive replacement (a new memory, if you will). The mind holds us, or it propels us. It is up to us to decide how our minds affect us individually. As you’ve heard me say on numerable occasions, it’s all a choice. Gestalt techniques can lead the way to your liberation and fulfillment, if that’s what you would choose.
