~Getting to 1000 and Beyond~

Granted, it may or may not be at all probable, but STILL I’m betting it is possible to increase followers by 1000+ within less than 30 days. Of course, it follows that no man, nor woman in this case, is an island of sandy footprints, so the goal of getting at least 1000 subscribers requires cooperation and boatloads of support from those already subscribed. So here I am on my arthritic knees and with sand between my toes making my request/plea:

Repost this blog post when you are finished reading it.

That’s it.

Simply repost it, and let’s see if I can get 1000+ new subscribers. And of course, in universal ripples, that means that each of those subscribers will bring in another 1000 or so. This is a little test, and I really hope you’ll each support me in this. Let’s see if there are really those folks who will read to the end and will then subscribe, or if instead, this request falls like the zeppelin from an angry sky.

And if you ask, I’ll return the favor….

~Much love and light and gratitude, Jan Deelstra

Earth Day is Every Day and is the Real Mother’s Day

Here’s a little peek into my psyche: Earth Day is my favorite holiday. I know, I know, it’s not like those big RETAIL holidays that sneak dollars from pockets and leave gift wrap and indigestion in the wake. Earth Day is a zen holiday; it’s more gentle and impels reflection, thought, and walks in nature.

Today I am left with regret over having not visited Zion’s National Park in honor of Earth Day. I’ve no excuse. I simply did not plan ahead; didn’t even think about it until this morning.

Earth Day urges me to do something nice for Mother Earth. It’s the best of Mother’s Day celebrations, much more authentic than that other M.’s Day when we are forced into Hallmark moments and coerced into…well, that’s just me, plainly.

But I do adore this real Mother’s Day. So I’ll not write much more today, at least not within the confines of my office setting. Today I will journey outside and seek the feelings and sounds and sights of Mother Nature. I will let the warmth of shaded sunrays and the kiss of her breezes touch me and soothe me with hope that there really will be an Earth, alive and healthy, for generations to come. Knowing that her care is in our hands, I will express my gratitude to Mother Earth. It is my affirmation of the day, and of every day: Earth Day, is every day.

April Fools Day!

A ticket to the washing of the lion, a traditional April fool's prank (Photo credit: Wikipedia)

Because it is the 1st day of April, I had planned on some sort of prank, all in the good-natured theme of April Fools Day. As I tried to come up with something rather clever, or at least semi-entertaining, it occurred to me that there is no reason to play tricks, because there are no fools taking time out of their day to read my blog. We’re all far too sophisticated and alert to fall for anything less than above-board. So this is what I have decided to do: Instead of playing tricks on anyone, I will buy you all a cup of your favorite morning breakfast drink at the cafe of your choice. You simply go in and order, and when it’s time to pay the tab, just tell them I sent you, and said to put it on my tab. In fact, let’s bump it up a notch; order an entire meal! And add dessert too! When the check comes, just mention my name! Seriously, put it on my tab.On second thought, that won’t work. How will you prove that you know me? And what if they have no idea of who I am? In that case, you’ll be stuck paying the entire tab! I think maybe a better idea is to have you just buy my breakfast. Yes, that’s it! That way, there will be no question of who I am. I’ll just tell them to let you pay the tab. That’ll work~

Oh wait. I’m actually out of town this week, so I won’t be available for breakfast, but if you really want to buy me a cup of coffee, I suppose that’s okay. And to make it even easier, I’m adding a handy little picture of a cup of coffee. All you need do is click that pic and it takes you right into the coffee shop where you can buy me a cup of coffee.

Or if you prefer, a bottle of wine:

April Fools (and all others, too) thank you.

~As always, with love, light, and gratitude.
