Where did it begin—this ‘new moon’ seed planting that expands beyond the garden soils?

Where it began is unclear…it’s been a ritual for as long as I can recall, so maybe longer than I’ve been around—or at least aware. Maybe it is wisdom passed by matriarchs of generations past, or maybe it’s an innate survival skill that assists us to grow the foods we need. What’s clear is that planting seeds during the darkness of Luna’s shade results in stronger faster fruition. Farmers have depended on the new moon for nurturing crops since before the first Almanac was published. As a non-farming example, did you know that getting your hair cut during the New M00n phase causes your hair to grow faster?

Nature is God, and God is Nature. Going back in time, we didn’t have the disputes over natural events and cycles; Humans lived in harmony with nature, rather than attempting to bend and too often bastardize what is perfectly synchronized. Humans respected the moon’s cycles and the seasons, trusting and knowing that all is perfectly orchestrated. There wasn’t a political or religious force hell-bent on power and destruction and asserting their will on the masses. There were people living life in accordance to a natural process of existance: Planting and harvesting, and not ravishing the Earth. Simple has a powerful presence in that way of harmonious living. Simple will survive the politicians. Nature will survive. Nature will adapt, even if humans do not.

Because it is a new moon, and I am planting with my thoughts, I rein in the seeds of confusion that have been blowing in the tornado of geopolitical winds. Instead, I place my focus on appreciation and clarity. I envision clearly the life I am responsible for cultivating—that of my own making. I light a simple candle for the masses and send them out a prayerful thought of peace. That candle reflects back to me, and I too am blessed by the intention. I take a few moments to consider what, from my small space in the Universe, I can do to emit positive vibrations outward, and mindfully ward off the negatives. Although I have never been much for praying to an old man in the sky, I absolutely connect with the essence of all, and it with me. My flowers will bloom. I trust this with my entire being. It has always been. It will always be. This truth has been shown to me multiple times over the pathway of my life. Sow and reap are not biblical ideas; they are the wisdom of Nature. Do unto others, and expect the repercussions or rewards. We decide what is created, what is attracted. We do this with our plantings.
