2: Eleanor Roosevelt – The First Lady of the World
Born: October 11, 1884
Died: November 7, 1962

“No one can make you feel inferior without your consent.” — Eleanor Roosevelt
Today, I want to shine the light on one of my favorite wise women: Eleanor Roosevelt. It’s challenging to land on just one empowering quote by “the first lady of the world” because she was so full of wisdom. In fact, I have an entire file on my laptop of Eleanor Roosevelt quotes on memes because her energies align with those of empowered women.
Eleanor Roosevelt wasn’t just the wife of a U.S. president—she was a revolutionary force in her own right. As First Lady from 1933 to 1945, she redefined the role, using her platform to champion civil rights, women’s rights, and humanitarian efforts. At a time when women were expected to remain in the background, she stepped forward, giving speeches, holding press conferences, and fighting for the marginalized.
After Franklin D. Roosevelt’s passing, Eleanor continued her work, becoming a delegate to the United Nations and chairing the committee that drafted the Universal Declaration of Human Rights—one of the most significant documents in history. Her influence was so profound that President Truman called her the “First Lady of the World.”
Why She Inspires Us Today
Eleanor Roosevelt’s legacy is a reminder that power isn’t about titles—it’s about action. She used her voice for those who had none, proving that courage and conviction can create lasting change. Today, her words and work continue to inspire women to stand strong, own their worth, and never allow anyone to diminish their power.
Today, take a moment to check in with yourself in a non-judgmental way. What’s one action that you can do in this moment to affirm your feminine power? Commit to take action, and then reward yourself.
